A 66-year-old man was found dead on Saturday evening, stabbed, in his apartment in Voiron (Isère), and his wife was taken into police custody shortly after the macabre discovery, the Grenoble prosecutor's office said on Sunday.
Aged 70, the victim's wife was interviewed on Sunday morning by police officers from the local judicial police service of Voiron, prosecutor Eric Vaillant told the press, confirming information from the regional daily The Dauphiné Libéré.
An altercation that “degenerated”
According to the newspaper, it was the septuagenarian herself who alerted a neighbor on Saturday around 6:30 p.m., shortly after having stabbed her husband “several times” during an altercation which “degenerated”.
This neighbor then contacted the police and emergency services. When they arrived at the couple's apartment, the firefighters and emergency services noted that the victim was in cardio-respiratory arrest and could not be revived.
