According to Cheikhna Keita, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko assumes the powers of the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. Invited before the Sunday jury relayed by IRadio, the former Commissioner and his movement “Save Senegal”, firmly believe that there is indeed a vacuum of power since Sonko has seized the powers of the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye whom the Senegalese elected as head of the country.

“Information to the point of noting that a tacit resignation and the vacancy of power of the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye for the benefit of his Prime Minister. This is what we wrote to the constitutional council. Today we are in a special situation. Diomaye is already a problem; it seems that we are facing a president who was chosen haphazardly. It has visible gaps in its movement and purpose. The problem is that when he came to power he was trampled on by his prime minister. It was predictable because the debate was settled. The Prime Minister occupies all spaces of power to the detriment of the President of the Republic. This is the crisis.

We say that it is the President of the Republic who practically refuses to play his role. Because he named people he doesn’t know. The president had openly said so. Our relationship with diplomacy, our foreign policy orientation, our defense policy orientation, we realized that there is someone who has encroached on the fields there and in a deliberate and violent manner to the point of attracting the everyone’s attention. This is what forces all ambassadors to go in the direction of the Prime Minister. It is because power has tilted in this direction and excessively. And why we don’t have the right to act. We describe this aggressive reality. A Prime Minister who does everything we hear from the President of the Republic in relation to our relations with the outside world. The Prime Minister has settled where he should not settle. There is impiety everywhere,” declared former commissioner Cheikhna Keita.

He adds : ” It was at the age of 20 that I began serving my country as an officer. I have never wasted time serving my country. This is an extension of what I had to do as police commissioner. The board can do whatever it wants because I’m not the board. I am in the position of the one who has noticed that things are not going well and who is addressing the one who must see that things are not going well officially the constitutional council is the constitutional judge in Senegal. It should be noted that the council may not even respond. We will continue to act because we did not start there. We have begun to exist politically, which is what justifies our action today. We are responsible political actors and have assumed our responsibility to make things work. Alioune Tine clearly defined the Prime Minister’s encroachments on the powers of the President of the Republic. The honorable Guy Marius Sagna also said that there is no change in the system despite the election of Diomaye. Better to enter into instability and get out of it rather than letting this thing rot and explode elsewhere… Today those who killed and exposed our youth are accusing people»
