On October 29, Jean-Philippe Dargent, secretary general of the Ariège prefecture and sub-prefect of the Foix district, was warmly received in Montaillou by the mayor, Jean Clergue, and his municipal team. This official visit provided an opportunity to take stock of several key projects for the town, as well as the results of the tourist season, an essential sector for this historic village.
Rehabilitation of Ostal Del Rey: towards a housing project
Among the current projects, the rehabilitation of Ostal Del Rey is at the center of the municipality's concerns. This historic building will be transformed to accommodate two housing units, an initiative made possible thanks to financial support from the State, which allocated €12,000 to this project. This funding represents an important part of the efforts deployed to revitalize local heritage while meeting the housing needs of the municipality. The transformation of Ostal Del Rey into a living space marks a turning point for Montaillou, where the promotion of heritage is accompanied by concrete solutions for its inhabitants.
Jean Duvernoy Historic Center: support for memory and local heritage
Jean-Philippe Dargent also visited the Jean Duvernoy historic center, an institution which preserves and exhibits objects discovered during excavations of the site of the ancient Château de Montaillou. This site, listed as a historic monument, houses the remains of a fascinating period of local history, offering visitors a valuable insight into the region's past. This center benefited from financial aid of €19,347 granted by the State as part of the Rural Territories Equipment Grant (DETR). This support reinforces the State's commitment to the preservation and enhancement of the historical heritage of Montaillou.

At the conclusion of this visit, Secretary General Jean-Philippe Dargent thanked Mayor Jean Clergue and his team for their welcome. He also praised their constant commitment and their work in the service of Montaillou, emphasizing the importance of close collaboration between local authorities and the State for the preservation of heritage and the development of projects which enrich the life of the municipality.
