Gateway to a new horizon. The new town of Cergy-Pontoise has aged. Its footbridges, intended to promote an inter-district pedestrian network sheltered from car traffic, too. In Cergy, two footbridges will be the subject of a formal renovation until next March. Since November 4, the Plants footbridge has been closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic. That of Touleuses Pourpres will be from November 12. As with the Ham bridge, also under construction from November 4 to the beginning of March, for the City of Cergy it is a question of rehabilitating structures eaten away by corrosion and infiltration. And to ensure the safety of the many users who use them every day.
Corrosion and infiltration
Cleaning, repair of the waterproofing of the road joints and the coating, anti-corrosion treatment, change of the guardrails and reinforcement of the infrastructure are included in the specifications of this project, the cost of which is estimated for the two footbridges at 937,000 euros, subsidized to the tune of 178,000 euros by the State. While the total bill for the renovation of the three structures amounts to 1.5 million euros (€300,000 state subsidy).
Throughout the work, i.e. for four months, the bus stops located under the Touleuses Pourpres and Plants footbridges will be removed. You will have to walk to the nearest bus stop…
Under the Touleuses Pourpres footbridge, a traffic lane will be neutralized. Vehicles will come and go using alternating lights. Below the Plants footbridge, traffic will be reduced to one lane per direction of traffic. Finally, secure pedestrian diversions will be provided for middle and high school students going to the Plants school and the Touleuses college. Without a bridge, life is no more beautiful.
Ham Bridge closed until March
It is a bridge thrown over the Oise that the years have weakened. Fifty years he has spanned the river between Cergy village and the Ham district without ever tripping. Water flowed under Ham's bridge. Devoured by corrosion and infiltration, the structure is undergoing essential restoration which will lead to its closure until the beginning of March. Four long months of construction without the slightest breath. To reach Ham from the village or the village from Ham driving a car, you will have to follow a diversion to the Hautil bridge. Pedestrians, too, will be entitled to a nice detour via poorly lit or unlit side roads which take a poorly maintained staircase. Puzzle and system D.
