Born from the farmers’ demonstrations and the blockade of the Couiza bridge last January, the Aude Breeders’ Union (Selpa) meets in Limoux to elect its office. The goal: to create a coherent representative body that weighs in the balance.
Five months after the demonstrations which shook the country, Aude and more precisely the Haute Vallée, Aude breeders remain mobilized to make themselves heard and “weigh in the balance of important decisions”. If on the Pyrénées-Orientales side, the collective Farmers from the Pyrenees chose to block the Franco-Spanish border at the start of the month, they are choosing consultation for the moment.

To do this, the Aude Breeders’ Union (Selpa) is organizing its very first general meeting on Friday June 27 in Limoux to elect its office. After public meetings organized in Fanjeaux, Talairan, Limoux, Chalabre, Cuxac-Cabardès, and Espezel, Selpa passes the second and will therefore have one (or more) presidents, vice-presidents, secretary, etc.

The idea: create real dynamic cohesion to “have strong representation among the institutions of the sector, but also the prefecture, the Department” by bringing together all the breeders of Aude “without distinction of race or species” neither “no political ambition”. Selpa also announced its intention to create thematic commissions (common agricultural policy, predation, MSA, etc.) with the aim of supporting breeders on a daily basis, in their administrative procedures and thus “to obtain solutions and answers”.
