The new hotel located in Saint-Imier (BE) has chosen not to display stars, but several categories of rooms are still available. For its co-founder Robin Chételat, this decision has no negative consequences on its attendance rate.

Inaugurated Thursday evening, the Hota hotel is the largest in the Bernese Jura. It has 48 rooms. The classic is priced at 129 francs, the “prestige suite”, with balcony, at 189 and the family at 199, to be divided by the number of occupants. These family dormitories can be made up of four or six beds.

The objective of this hotel complex is to meet “all the needs of customers” in this “small town”, indicates Robin Chételat, co-founder of the Hota hotels chain. This is why he preferred to do without the stars.

In Saint-Imier, there is “leisure with families, athletes (…) and business with companies and a very interesting economic fabric”, he explains at the microphone of La Matinale on Friday.

A “challenge”, but “overcome”

This decision, however, poses a problem in terms of the readability of the establishment’s positioning. Robin Chételat relates that “this is a question which has regularly been asked (at the establishment) and which has discouraged certain investors.”

But for him, “the challenge has clearly been overcome”, as demonstrated by “the first visits, customer satisfaction and the life that is emerging in the hotel”. Since its opening in May, the hotel has already welcomed between 700 and 800 customers and aims to sell 12,000 room nights per year.
