As the days get shorter, the temperatures drop and the sun becomes more and more shy, the Bourganeuf pétanque club is making an announcement. He is looking for a sheltered place to train. The association only owns outdoor areas.

“It’s not fun, we only travel, which has a cost,” indicates the president of the Bourganeuf pétanque club, Olivier Pastor. The forty licensees must train in Guéret or La Souterraine.

An indoor bowling alley would change a lot of things. “We would already be training in the heat, that’s important. And then, no more training between us and no more licensees”details Samuel, member of the club. This infrastructure would also allow the opening of a pétanque school for young people. “If we have around ten plots of land, we could also organize competitions which would provide us with financial support for the future”adds Oliver Pastor, president of the Bourganeuf pétanque club.

A farm, premises or land

The association is looking for a location within a radius of twenty kilometers around Bourganeuf. “The ideal? It would be 150 to 200 m² but it's very complicated to find. We would like a farmhouse, premises or land – because we can put in a plastic tunnel”explains Olivier Pastor. To build, such a bowling alley would cost between 200 and 300,000 euros. Which is impossible for this club created in 2021.

“We cannot participate in their financing”specifies Thierry Lamardelle, president of the departmental pétanque committee in Creuse. “It is up to the clubs to get closer to their municipality to possibly have a small covered structure.” What was done by the Bourganeuf club but “it's not easy to find”, adds the president of the local association who invites those who can help the club to contact via email address following: [email protected]

In Creuse, out of the 20 pétanque clubs, the Bourganeuf club is one of the four which does not have an indoor bowling alley. THE department has 1,200 licensees.
