Snow tires are now compulsory in these 32 municipalities

Since 2012, winter automotive equipment has already been compulsory in certain municipalities in Aude. But since November 1 and until next March, non-compliance with this security measure is punishable by a 4th class fine, that is to say 135 euros.

As our colleagues on the site remind us Actu.frin these 32 municipalities, you must now be able to equip your vehicle with “removable anti-slip devices” (snow chains and socks) or snow tires. If motorists have the choice between metal chains or textile chains, at least two are required on board the vehicle, for the drive wheels.

Road safety at the center of concerns

Law enforcement will also not tolerate “4-season” tires without chains. If the vehicle is only equipped with snow tires, they must be marked “3PMSF”, represented by a mountain with three peaks, surrounding a snowflake. This measure concerns light vehicles, utility vehicles, buses and heavy goods vehicles.

These 32 municipalities are: Artigues, Aunat, Belcaire, -sur-Rebenty, Belvis, Bessède-de-Sault, Le Bousquet, Cailla, Campagna-de-Sault, Camurac, Le Clat, Comus, Coudons, Counozouls, Escouloubre, Espezel , La Fajolle, Fontanès-de-Sault, Galinagues, Gincla, Joucou, Marsa, Mazuby, Mérial, Montfort-sur-Boulzane, -de-Sault, Quirbajou, Rodome, Roquefeuil, Roquefort-de-Sault, Sainte-Colombe- sur-Guette and finally, Salvezines. Since November 1, drivers from the cities mentioned above, all located in the Pyrenees, must ensure that they are properly equipped to travel peacefully.
