On Sunday, June 30, 2024, the first round of early legislative elections will be held following the dissolution of the National Assembly, proclaimed on the evening of the European elections. All residents registered on the electoral lists are called to vote to choose their deputy.

In Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), 255 polling stations are made available based on the voters’ address. Here are the instructions for these somewhat special elections.

Offices open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Next to 790,000 voters are called to vote in the Alpes-Maritimes, including more than 220.000 in Nice alone, according to the prefecture’s counts during the last European elections, on June 9.

Nice voters have from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to go to their office, the number of which can be found on the electoral card or on the service-public.fr website to check whether registration on the electoral lists is up to date.

These offices close at 8 p.m. in the Alpes-Maritimes

The electoral code specifies that polling stations in municipalities in France open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, the prefecture may, by way of derogation, authorize closings at 8 p.m. in certain municipalities. Here are those affected by this derogation for the two rounds of the legislative election, on June 30 and July 7, 2024:

– Aspremont
– Cagnes sur mer
– Cars
– Grasse
– Mandelieu-La-Napoule

ID required to vote

As a reminder, on polling day, it is recommended to present the electoral card, but not mandatory. If you forget or do not receive it before going to vote, it is possible to present only a valid identity document (except for the identity card and passport, again valid for five years after their expiry date).

The list of all identity documents required for municipalities with more than 1,000 inhabitants when voting can be found on the service-public.fr website.
