On the night of Friday, November 1, a police check in the Chaudron district degenerated into an attack. Around 12:45 a.m., the national police canine brigade spotted a motorcyclist on a KTM, revving its engine near the cable car. Ignoring the order to stop, the man fled, trying to escape the police.

Thanks to their knowledge of the area and the information collected, the agents quickly found the suspect.

As reported by Zinfos 974, upon arrest, the individual, visibly intoxicated, resisted violently and physically attacked the police, going so far as to insult them. The man was finally placed in deferred custody due to his high blood alcohol level.

The two injured police officers are respectively prescribed 4 and 5 days of temporary incapacity for work (ITT). The Alliance Police Nationale union expresses its support for the agents and demands an exemplary sanction.

“No one can break the law with impunity,” declares the departmental office, which strongly condemns this attack and wishes a speedy recovery to the two injured agents.

This incident is a reminder of the risks that law enforcement officers are exposed to on a daily basis, reinforcing calls for firm legal measures to deter such attacks.
