A suspicion of botulism was reportedly detected in a person who had consumed a pork terrine produced by “Les peupliers” in the town of Mottier in Isère.
A product recall
An analysis by the Pasteur Institute confirmed that this pork terrine did indeed contain the presence of botulinum toxin and the bacteria producing this toxin. The health authorities have decided to recall a few dozen of these canned goods put on sale at the “Chez Barbier” farm in Le Mottier.
According to Rappel Conso, “ Botulinum poisoning is characterized by neurological signs: sensation of blurred vision, drooping eyelids, speech problems, difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, muscle weakness. Digestive signs (constipation, vomiting, diarrhea) often accompany neurological signs. » This neurological condition is fatal in 5 to 10% of cases.
