Because of the chemicals they contain, used painting tools should not be thrown into household waste bins. Depending on their nature, they can be placed in the metal, bulky or incinerable waste bins. But since October 2024, the Dammartin-en-Goële recycling center (Seine-et-Marne) has accepted these objects, reports The Marne.
Recycling and recovery
Paint trays and buckets, spin racks, brushes and other basting brushes are among the tools that can be dropped off, by individuals only. They are then entrusted to the eco-organization ECODDS, which ensures recycling and recovery of this chemical waste.
Thanks to the recovered plastic, which will be transformed into pellets, boxes for collecting chemical waste can be manufactured. The metal will be resold to be reused in automobile and industrial construction. Finally, the other parts of these tools will be used to produce heating and electricity.
