Following a recent theft of bicycles from the premises of the Jacques Brel primary school, the municipality quickly reacted by investing in a new bicycle park. This acquisition is part of the national “Know how to ride a bike” program, an initiative of the Ministry of Sports aimed at teaching students aged 6 to 11 to travel by bicycle for entry into middle school, and to develop the reflexes of carbon-free mobility from a very young age.
The city therefore invested in the purchase of 10 new, quality bicycles for an amount of €4,171. In addition, learning from the burglary, the municipality also invested €250 in secure racks to protect this new equipment, which is essential for students as part of “Know how to ride a bike”.
These bikes will also be used during the opening of the pumptrack track planned at Champ d'Orain in spring 2025.
Dominique Bonnet, accompanied by Cédric Holley, sports and school affairs manager, went on site to supervise the delivery alongside the establishment's director, Johann Jahier.
This visit was also an opportunity for the municipality to check the renovation work undertaken during the All Saints' Day holidays. Indeed, tThree classes were equipped with ten custom-made fire-resistant blinds for the sum of €6,030 including tax. Four new reinforced and secure doors, financed by insurance, replaced the old doors broken during a previous burglary.
