The France Travail regional directorate of Burgundy Franche-Comté has just published its figures for the third quarter of 2024.
It appears, for Nièvre, that compared to the second quarter of 2024, the number of category A job seekers, that is to say required to look for a job and without activity, increased from 6,570 to 6,630, a slight increase of 0.9%. If we look at the variation over one year, the number of job seekers in this category was, in the third quarter of 2023, 6,520, compared to 6,630 this year. Over one year, the change is therefore +1.7%.
Nièvre is not the department of Burgundy Franche-Comté to record the highest increase over one year. Thus, the Territoire de Belfort shows +5.7%, followed by Doubs with +5.2% and Yonne at +3.7%. Only Saône-et-Loire can boast of a decrease, namely -0.9%. Overall, in Burgundy Franche-Comté, unemployment increased by 2.1% over one year.

Looking at the details of the data relating to Nièvre, several things should be noted for category A job seekers. The first is that the number of men this third quarter compared to the previous one, remained at 3,550. As for women, the total increased to 3,080 compared to 3,020 three months ago.
The second is that the number of people aged 50 and over remains high. In the third quarter of 2023, there were 1,950. In the second quarter of this year, the total rose to 2,010 and then 2,030 in the third quarter.
