Pays du Pont du Gard: daycare centers obtain the “ecolocrèche” label

It's official, the seven nurseries of the Community of Communes of Pont du (CCPG) are labeled “eco-crèche”. A label which was inaugurated at the end of October in the presence of Laurence Trapier, vice-president of the intercommunality, delegate for Early Childhood and Youth; Pierre Prat, president of the CCPG; a representative of the CAF du Gard and Estelle Maria, in charge of the development of the Label vie association. Staff from the various crèches and micro-crèches of the Community of Municipalities were also present.

“Écolocrèche”, an approach for the future

It all started in 2021, when the teams of the seven young child care establishments (ECJE) in the territory of the Community of Communes of Pont du Gard were made aware of the environmental issuesfor the well-being of children and in an approach to sustainable development.

The objective was to take the right actions and support structures to contribute to the preservation of our planet, with the waste sortingthe reuse of packaging and the use of ecological cleaning products.

In addition to integrating the national Label vie network, this labeling is accompanied by a subsidy of around €28,000, which represents 80% of the operating costs of the crèches.

What is the “ecolocrèche” label?

The “écolocrèche” label is the first for the ecological and social transition in early childhood. The Label vie association, founded by Claire Grolleau, was created in 2009 and expanded its scope of action in 2018. Indeed, if the origin only concerned nurseries, the association is now working for the transition ecological with childminders and leisure centers.

The “ecoloccrèche” label recognizes the efforts of crèche staff. Renewable every three years, it improves the quality of life of the children received as well as the teams for their health and well-being.

After the various speeches and the awarding of diplomas to the seven crèches, this meeting was also an opportunity to discover La Ruche enchantée de Montfrin, one of the last crèches opened in the region and which was already a pioneer in terms of ecology being built with responsible materials: Worm stones and sustainable wood.

“I am satisfied with what is happening in the Montfrin crèche, but also in all the others in the Community of Communes, it is a brand image for the CCPG”notes on the one hand Pierre Prat.

But the president of the intercommunality above all highlighted the quality of the work carried out by the staff. “Their involvement in this process has enabled our nurseries to have this label today”.
