Dakar, June 6 (APS) – The Minister of the Interior, General Jean Baptiste Tine, installed, Thursday, the Inspector General of Police, Mame Seydou Ndour, in his new position as Director General of the National Police, in replacement of the general police controller, Seydou Bocar Yague.
The installation ceremony took place at the training directorate of the National Police, in the presence of the chief of general staff of the armies, Mbaye Cissé, the high commander of the Gendarmerie and director of military justice, Martin Faye, and several military and administrative authorities.
Inspector General of Police, Mame Seydou Ndour, was, among other things, head of the judicial police section at the Thiaroye police station, director of the air and border police, before being placed at the head of the Police national.
“A senior civil servant with a commendable career punctuated by great successes, who, through his exceptional human and professional qualities, has always been able, through his adapted management style, to motivate and inspire his staff to achieve results in line with the targeted objectives”, underlined the Minister of the Interior, Jean Baptiste Tine.
The minister invited the head of the Police to “provide structuring and lasting solutions to these scourges which disrupt our daily lives, such as the numerous cases of attacks noted, the congestion of public roads and insecurity, and drug trafficking ”.
The new director of the National Police pledged to “work tirelessly for the well-being of the populations and the interest of the Republic, through a strong, well-prepared and equipped Police force, in compliance with the laws and regulations in force. force”.
Mame Seydou Ndour also promised to “strengthen the fight against urban delinquency by establishing a real community policing policy and, at the same time, reconciling the Police with the populations”.
He also intends to consolidate the achievements left by his predecessor and continue “the major reforms initiated to modernize the Police, in an inclusive approach, in accordance with current requirements”.
