A collaborative site allows you to know the cars used by private companies or by the State to install radars. It identifies for each department whether private companies are active there or whether only official authorities carry out checks there.

A collaborative site that will delight more than one person. Dozens of radar cars are listed for each department on Private radar. It allows you to know the models used by the police but also and above all those of private companies.

The site presents an interactive map of mainland . For each department, it is possible to know the cars used by the military on the road to carry out checks. But above all, to know which models are used by private companies.

Eight regions concerned

Because since 2018, private companies have had the right to carry Gatso Millia type radars to flash vehicles while driving.

Note that “the service providers are not paid for the number of flashes: their remuneration is calculated based on the number of kilometers traveled during speed checks. This number of kilometers is also fixed in advance in the contract. A penalty is imposed in the event of of overtaking”, explains the road safety website.

To date, eight of the thirteen regions of France use these private methods: , , Pays-de-la-, Centre-Val-de-Loire, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Hauts-de-Loire -France, Burgundy-Franche-Comté and the Grand-Est.

Next year, the system should be deployed in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Occitania and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur. A priori, it will not establish itself in Île-de-France or Corsica.
