A novelty for CM 2 students from Vernon, in theYour. The municipality has just launched a new system. His name: the Citizenship passport.
Objective stated under the aegis of the Ministry of National Education: to encourage children to complete a civic journey punctuated by individual and collective actions (initiation to first aid gestures, participation in commemorations or clean operations, intergenerational actions, etc.) .
Civic values
“Throughout their journey, young people are accompanied by ambassadors of civic-mindedness, a local driving force, which validates each action,” announces the municipality.
A system already adopted by many municipalities such as Poissy (Yvelines), Saint-Jean-de-Luz (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) or Noisy-le-Grand (Seine-Saint-Denis).
“This system responds to the interest in developing concrete actions to promote civic values among young people. »
“It makes it possible to support children and young people in a civic and citizen approach, to develop notion d’engagementencourage them to get involved in the actions proposed by the community,” adds the elected official.
Please note that this passport is offered to all public and private schools of the municipality for the 2024-2025 school year.
The association in question
During the municipal council of October 11 and the adoption of the device, the opposition municipal councilor of the Vernon Ecologist and Citizen Group, Alice Ormières, still questioned the exemplary nature of the association which carries the device which notably owns “a notorious tax exile”.
“We were not aware of this but the priority through this system is that we are there, on our scale, to transmit values,” replied Mayor François Ouzilleau.
The passport is presented in the form of a fun and educational guide and is structured around several axes, six of which are mandatory: duty of memory, solidarity-link, intergenerational, history-heritage, protection of citizens-preservation of the environment, respect for security forces.
To set up this system, the municipality of Vernon must join the Civic Passport Association for an amount of 900 euros.
