The elected officials of the city of Figeac adopted, Monday June 3, 2024 in municipal council, the development project of the Pratges website, an investment of €2.15 million excluding tax. New developments are planned.

The “green lung” of the town of Figeac

Located on the left bank of the Célé, the Prairie des Pratges is a classified site (since 1942), described as a “green lung” for the City. From a rural aspect, the site has become over time a leisure center (tennis courts, skate park, children’s games, etc.), a space for relaxation, for walks along the river, all close to the downtown. Today, the park would have lost its splendor, with spaces considered to be of low quality (degraded soil condition, less valued vegetation, aging street furniture), apart from two tennis courts and their renovated surroundings.

The project to move and modernize the skate park gave the municipality the opportunity to think about an overall redevelopment of the site. Presenting the project, Bernard Landes, 1er deputy, wishes to “propose a project that corresponds to all generations. That’s the general idea. It’s about recreating a fun, restful and leisure setting.”

A project worth €2.15 million excluding tax

In the tracks, the renovation of 3 is mentionede tennis court, recovery of 4e short to create the new skate park, a requalification of the riverside promenade, a network of pedestrian paths, a vast rediscovered grassy area, new recreational and sporting uses, etc. The overall amount for the overall development is valued at €2.15 million excluding tax, divided into three phases of work. The 1D (VRD, skate park, plantations) is estimated at €764,956 excluding tax. Aid from the State, the Region, the Department of Lot, and Grand Figeac is requested.

In view of the amounts involved, the debate begins in the municipal assembly. Aurélie Morel, elected Figeac Demain, questions the relevance of the cost of the work. “What space for the existing parking lot? €2 million, an exorbitant amount! » Philippe Landrein, elected Figeac Otherwise, bounces. “When we see the state of the roads, the sidewalks in town, we are going to put €2 million here. We need to think about the cost of the project… We have a different position. In the current state of the city’s finances, there is no need to incur such expenses. » The sound is similar for Patricia Gontier, elected Vivre Figeac. “We’re not saying it’s a bad idea, but there are questions of priority. Can we afford it today? “.

William Baldy, 3e deputy, specifies: “We are in the process of a complete redevelopment of the site. We are going to redo the games, the continuities, the routes on the banks. We are going to return quality equipment to the people of Figeac. For Bernard Landes, “the developed sector will be able to respond to the demands of the population… We are developing something that will last over time”.
