The first ceremony of homage to the Dead for France (before those at the Plateau de la Garenne, at the Boismoreau cemetery and at the station) took place on Friday, November 1, from 10:30 a.m., at the Calmont cemetery. Organized by the city of Vannes, this ceremony brought together Stéphane Jarlégant, secretary general of the prefecture, Anne Le Hénanff, deputy of Morbihan, David Robo and his deputy mayors, the military authorities as well as around fifteen flag bearers from patriotic associations.
In this cemetery, decorated with bright and varied colors, chrysanthemums have been placed on the graves. This ceremony, led by the French Souvenir clique, allowed four wreaths to be laid in front of the stone stele of one of the miliary squares. After the raising of the flag, carried out by René Fernandez, a drum march, a call to attention and a bell toll rang out among the graves. Graves maintained by the French Remembrance Association which carried out its annual collection this Friday at the entrance to the sites. The money collected also serves the duty of transmitting the memory dear to the association.
