Since July 22, 2022, Frédéric Sautron has served as sub-prefect, chief of staff responsible for the fight against illegal immigration, with the prefect of Mayotte. He previously held the position of sub-prefect of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne in 2017.
A native of Saint-Benoît, he holds a master's degree in public law “security law and strategies”. He is a graduate of the gendarmerie staff, military qualification and the national gendarmerie officers' school.
Frédéric Sautron succeeds Christine Torres who took up her duties as general secretary of the Sarthe prefecture, sub-prefect of Le Mans, on September 9, 2024.
