The national police had no director general for a month, and the retirement of Frédéric Veaux.

The Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau has just made a decision and decided to appoint Louis Laugier, current prefect of Isère, to this position.

A face that is not unknown in the Alps since he was prefect of Savoy between 2017 and 2020.

Familiar with issues of drug trafficking and score-settling in the area, Louis Laugier had once been considered to head the gendarmerie.

The Minister of the Interior congratulated him on this new position. “He has twice held very important functions within this institution and therefore has my full confidence in leading our National Police in its mission of protecting the French”indicates Bruno Retailleau about Louis Laugier.
