Carbonneau Group in full swing

Groupe Carbonneau has had expansion plans for quite some time. The opportunity to acquire the neighboring building came at the right time, said the company’s president, Rémi Filion. “The building we purchased is approximately 4,000 square feet. It’s mainly warehousing and offices. But, it is above all the terrain that is interesting for our project. We were cramped, so with the two sites, we will be able to connect our factory to the other building.”

The expansion in question will increase the surface area of the factory by approximately 7,000 square feet. Production capacity will therefore be increased. Specialized equipment will also be added, including 40-ton overhead cranes, laser cutting tables and assembly tables as well as robots.

The existing production area will also be redeveloped to optimize production flow. The project will require an investment of nearly four million dollars. Bromont elected officials gave their approval during the council meeting on Monday to the plans presented by the company.

The schedule calls for work to begin at the end of June and the project should be completed next fall.

Job creation

Groupe Carbonneau wants to “actively participate in the modernization of hydroelectric production infrastructures, which will be in strong growth,” mentioned the president of the company.

The company therefore wants to have the means to achieve its ambitions, not only in terms of its factory, but also in terms of its workforce. We plan to create around a dozen jobs by 2026. The team would then bring together around fifty members.

The company specializing in water equipment also has other expansion phases in its pipeline over the coming years. “We did strategic planning for 2021. The steps follow one another and the market is there. So everything is going very well.”

Groupe Carbonneau is currently carrying out projects from coast to coast across the country. Managers are not closing the door on developing the American market, but they will first focus on serving customers here. “We are starting to make submissions to the United States,” argued Mr. Filion. But, with everything that is coming to Canada in terms of hydroelectricity, I think we will have our hands full.”
