The Head of State presided over the official launch of the work of the national dialogue on the reform and modernization of justice, which is being held at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CICAD) in Diamniadio, in the department of Rufisque.

The President of the National Assembly, the President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, the President of the Constitutional Council, several members of the government, local elected officials and the President of the High Council for Social Dialogue are taking part in this meeting.

”It is a major event which will serve as a framework for the various actors to examine in depth our judicial system in order to improve it (…) The reflections must lead to concrete results, affecting various aspects of the judicial system,” wrote the Office of Government Information (BIG) in a note received by the APS.

The BIG ensures that the work will focus on themes as important as the status of magistrates, the organization and functioning of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, the conditions of detention and preparation for the social reintegration of prisoners, the regime of deprivation freedom, care for children in danger or in conflict with the law, etc.

”By choosing to go through dialogue to find solutions to justice problems, despite strong legitimacy (54.28% of the vote) and a project acclaimed by the Senegalese, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is doing more than demonstrating its attachment to the deep values of peace and democracy. It perpetuates a very Senegalese tradition,” comments the Government Information Office.
