In Podensac, in Gironde, the school offers a class Which one (Localized Units for School Inclusion). This device has a cost for the municipality, and more particularly since the start of the school year. THE issue ? A recruitment promise not honored by the State.
These Ulis classes constitute a system offering students with disabilities lessons and an educational organization adapted to their needs. They need support for students with disabilities (AESH) for the smooth running of the days.
The Podensacais establishment currently welcomes sixteen children in this situation coming from the municipality and other villages surroundings. A workforce that requires many support staff.
Support during breaks
Jean-Philippe Tomas, deputy mayor in charge of School Affairs, explains the situation.
Already two years ago, we recruited two people to take over from the AESH during the lunch break, with the children who needed it. Then, at the beginning of 2024, Gabriel Attal decided that the State, and therefore National Education, would take over these recruitments.
However, before the start of the school year, no recruitment had not been made by theNational Education in order to support the eight children who need this support: “To date, the State has not done this work and we must to compensate. »
It was therefore the municipality which took matters into its own hands. “ No children must not find themselves alone in class with their difficulties, even for a short period of time. We must understand that humans are not administrative matters. We cannot stay in the dark and wait,” argues the elected official.
Support which allows each child attending a ULIS class in Podensac to be supported since the start of the school year during lunch breaks, even if the ministerial promises do not come true quickly.
