After the floods which affected humpbacked Alsace and northern Alsace, “we have entered the repair phase“, explains the prefect of Bas-Rhin, Josiane Chevalier this Thursday, May 23. On France Bleu Alsace, she announces having obtained a procedure “accelerated“recognition of the state of natural disaster so that the files of the victims can be processed as quickly as possible.

Instead of waiting three months, if the municipalities submit their files on May 28, we will be able to benefit from the classification from June 4“, she promises. Town halls must take the necessary stepsthose most concerned did so“. As soon as the news becomes official, victims will be able to contact insurance companies and obtain repairs.

Pressure on insurers

Insurers must be there“, asks Josiane Chevalier, who specifies that the prefecture can contact the insurance mediator in the event of difficulties that residents report to the mayors.

In addition to the meeting at the prefecture on Wednesday, Josiane Chevalier intends to inform all the mayors of the Bas-Rhin department of all the aid. “They need to realize that for work in the context of a disaster, there is a lot of assistance possible.“, she says.
