A week after the 20 km of Paris, the Eiffel Tower welcomes a new race at its feet. This time, it is La Parisienne which will hold its 27th edition since its creation in 1997 by Patrick Aknin. A race exclusively reserved for women which has been emulated all over the country.
20,000 competitors are expected for this meeting which is dedicated to Flower Power. All women are expected, from the seasoned champion to the budding sportswoman, but also the Sunday walker or inveterate yogi. Salima Saa, the Secretary of State responsible for equality between women and men, is announced. For latecomers, there is no point in making the trip. The race has been sold out for several weeks.
Three events are on the program for this Sunday, October 20: a 10 km, a 7 km and walking, also 7 km. On the 10 km introduced in 2022, the first to start will be the disabled sports shortly before 9 a.m. (at 8:55 a.m. precisely). The Elites will then continue five minutes later. Several waves are established until 9:25 a.m.
For the 7 km, you will have to wait an hour later. It is once again the disabled sports which will open the ball at 10:10 a.m. followed by the able-bodied on six waves. Finally, the walkers will be released at 11 a.m.
All these departures will take place from the Jena Bridge, Warsaw Square. Participants will take a beautiful stroll through the streets of Paris and pass several monuments such as the Grand Palais, which hosted the fencing events during the Games, the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, the Place de la Concorde, the Musée du Louvre or the Invalides.
After another passage in front of the Place du Trocadéro, which they will pass to the Bir-Hakeim bridge, the competitors will turn towards the Eiffel Tower for an arrival that is as moving and spectacular as ever.
What a journey the Parisienne has come, which began in the Bois de Boulogne with 1,500 participants in 1997. Since 2002, the Parisienne has been held in the streets of Paris. Departures from the Pont d’Iéna just in front of the Eiffel Tower have taken place since 2015. La Parisienne is usually held on the second weekend in September but was postponed due to the Paralympic Games, which were ending at that time. .
