“In our Villeneuvois committee, we are responsible for regularly visiting the 79 cemeteries in the area of the agglomeration to search for abandoned graves” explains Bernard Duperray, president of the French Souvenir committee of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. “The tribute that we pay today to Marguerite Brouillet is the culmination of a year and a half of work of research and letters by our secretary with numerous searches on the Internet, letters to the defense historical service of Caen and Vincennes, at the European Center of the Deported Resistance which is located at the Struthof camp in Alsace, etc. We have thus managed to retrace the remarkable journey of Marguerite Brouillet in the service of the Resistance. going through his work as a liaison officer, until his capture on April 17, 1944.”

And history followed its course with his imprisonment in the Vorbruck-Schirmeck security camp in annexed Alsace, until his transfer with members of the Alliance network to the Struthof concentration camp and their execution on the 1st and on September 2, 1944 in this camp.

“Tracing these routes is part of the French Remembrance missions of which there are 3” adds Bernard Duperray. “We must preserve the memory of those who died for France during its history or who honored it with beautiful deeds, in particular by maintaining their tombs as well as the monuments erected to their glory, both in France and abroad. We also liven up commemorative life by participating in ceremonies and passing on the torch of remembrance to younger generations. This is why I invested in French Remembrance. “.
