The Haute- department, and particularly the Loire Vellave watershed and its tributaries, is placed on yellow alert (level 2 out of 4) for a risk of flooding.

In its monitoring bulletin published this Wednesday, the Vigicrues service indicates that an “ongoing Cévennes event is spilling over into the Loire and Allier basins”. It is also added that “during the night of Wednesday October 16 to Thursday October 17, 2024, an undulating front should reach the Massif Central and increase precipitation in the Haute-Loire basins”.

Still according to Vigicrues, “in Chadrac, the level of the first overflows will be reached at the end of the day of Wednesday October 16, 2024. A drop in levels is then expected during the night of Wednesday October 16 to Thursday October 17, 2024 before a second peak greater than the first on Thursday, October 17 in the morning, which could reach the level of damaging overflows.”

Also note that for the day of Thursday October 17, 2024, Météo- places the Haute-Loire department on yellow alert for thunderstorms, rain-floods and floods.
