The Campagnes vivants 82 association, which supports hedge planting projects throughout the department, has just inaugurated this Tuesday, October 15, a new associative nursery in Castelsarrasin (Tarn-et-Garonne) to germinate plants.
On the way from Nauguilles to Castelsarrasin, towards Belleperche Abbey, a crowd gathers in a greenhouse which stands out in the middle of the fields.
It is in this place, out of sight, that an associative nursery has just been inaugurated with great fanfare, this Tuesday, October 15, by the association Campagnes vivants 82. An organization, based in Moissac, which encourages hedge planting projects throughout the department.
Here, nearly two hectares of land will make it possible to produce seeds and plants for future rural hedges in the area.
Objective 40,000 plants produced per year

“We produce from seeds planted in Tarn-et-Garonne. For 2 years, this has been part of our project to better understand the landscape. We are aiming for 7,500 plants this year,” said the project manager for the collection and production of local plants for Campagnes vivants 82 during the presentation.
Weaving through the aisles of the brand new greenhouse, he explains his daily work on microphone: “We store seeds that must germinate in the nursery. In the future we want to try to calibrate the project for 40,000 plants. »

Head for the next rural hedges of Tarn-et-Garonne. As is already the case just a few meters from the Castelsarrasinoise nursery.

To see the project come to fruition, Campagnes vivants 82 waited 3 years. And so the month of March 2024 to settle on land on Chemin de Nauguilles.

Winner of a call for projects led by the Occitanie Region, the new nursery integrates the Tree and Living Carbon Plan. “The environmental issue is essential. This meets the needs of our society.
