Weather Alert: the Cévennes episode is approaching, 2 departments of Occitanie on orange alert, what to expect in the coming hours?

Due to an episode in the Cévennes which is approaching Occitanie, Vigi Weather France places two departments in the region on orange vigilance.

A “classic Cevennes autumn episode”

If the bad weather is expected to begin in the evening of this Tuesday, the departments concerned remain on yellow alert, but from the start of the day on Wednesday, Gard and Lozère move to orange.

This is a “classic Cévennes autumn episode requiring particular attention due to the heavy accumulations of rain expected, sometimes in a short time. In the first part of next night, a rain-stormy passage concerns the departments on orange alert”specifies the meteorological station.

But the rains will persist on the Cévènnes terrain for several hours. “By tomorrow Wednesday at the end of the day, accumulations of around: 10 to 30 mm are expected locally, 50 mm on the Gard plains, Aubrac and Margeride, on the sidelines of the episode, 120 to 150 mm widespread on the Cevennes relief, occasionally up to 250 mm on the Aigoual massif and Mont Lozère”indicates the site.

The wind, which is also expected for the next few days, has already picked up in the region, in the Tarn, in Sorèze more precisely. Gusts were recorded at more than 110 km/h.
