A few years ago, this testimony, without a nickname and with an uncovered face, would probably not have taken place. But, little by little, the victims are speaking out, because “shame must change sides”. Milly found the courage, four years later.
On the night of March 3 to 4, 2020, two weeks before confinement, the 18-year-old young woman found herself dumped by what she thought were friends, in the heart of the Mordacs city, in Champigny. Living in Deux-Sèvres, she left for a few days with them to see the capital. In the city, a man waits, takes Milly to a garbage room, where she will be the victim of gang rape. A little later, the “friends” picked up the totally traumatized young woman and dumped her in the middle of the countryside in the early morning, after throwing her phone out of the window. In just a few hours, Milly’s life was turned upside down and will never be the same again.
In her immense misfortune, the teenager has a chance, her mother, who has the reflex to collect her clothes and hide them in a plastic bag. A year later, when her daughter is ready to file a complaint, the evidence will be there. The DNA of four attackers is identified. A wave of arrests will be carried out at the end of 2022. “Profiles of young people from Champigny implicated for the gang rape and complicity in the gang rape of Milly have in common their extreme youth: three out of five were not yet 16 years old at the time of the events, all suffer from erratic schooling not exceeding the threshold of the college certificate, and are members of precarious families who struggle to support them”details Le Monde.
The trial is expected in 2025, at the Créteil court.
