Ferrari double in Austin, with victory for Charles Leclerc ahead of Carlos Sainz

A little less than two months after his victory in Italy, on the lands of Ferrari, Charles Leclerc won the United States Grand Prix on Sunday in Austin. Author of an excellent start, the Monegasque driver beat his teammate Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen (Red Bull). The McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri complete the top 5.

Started on pole, Lando Norris fell back into his ways in Austin. Embarrassed by a Max Verstappen very aggressive at the start, the Briton quickly fell back to 4th position. This battle between the first two of the general was the business of Charles Leclercwho took the lead.

On the third lap, the race was slowed down after the intervention of the safety car, which entered the track to evacuate… Lewis Hamilton. Starting in 17th position, the seven-time world champion finished in the gravel after going off the track. A weekend to forget for the Briton.

Once the race restarted, Leclerc, still in the lead, gradually widened the gap on Verstappen until he had a 10-second lead with 31 laps remaining (25/56). Moment chosen by the Dutchman to stop at the pit. And because of a slightly long tire change, he started back behind Carlos Sainz. Leclerc imitated him a lap later and regained control of the race when the two McLarens came into turn.
