Cursed penalties for the D1, Morbihan in force, the new little thumbs… What to remember from the 5th round of the Coupe de France in Brittany

No more departmental level teams, triplets, the department best represented for the next round, what should be remembered from the fifth round of the Coupe de , played on October 12 and 13.

Coupe de France (5th round)

Three boxes

Penmarc’h (R3), Moréac (R3) and Plédran (R2) were no match on Sunday. These three teams respectively lost 8-0 against US Montagnarde (R1), 6-2 against Cob Saint-Brieuc (R1) and 9-0 against Saint-Malo (N2). Malouin Guillaume Henry and Briochin Jean-Alassane Mendy stood out in particular with a hat-trick each.

Serious national level teams

There could only be one left. The only confrontation between national level teams, Lannion FC (N3) – Stade Briochin (N2), turned in favor of the Saint-Brieuc team (0-2). For the rest, all the national level teams entered in this 5th round qualified for the next round. Even if Dinan Léhon (N2) was very hot on the pitch at Retiers Coësmes (R2). He was caught twice before winning on penalties. They are also the only team at this level to have conceded a goal this weekend. There will therefore still be ten national level teams in the 6th round.

Mixed fortunes for the Dinan clubs

If Dinan Léhon almost had a very bad surprise on the field of AS Retiers Coësmes, the great sensation could have come from RC Dinan. The resident of D1 held off CPB Bréquigny (R1) the entire match, before losing 3-2 on penalties. Finally, the hierarchy was respected for the Dinan clubs.

Damn penalties!

Of the five D1 teams still involved, four went to penalties. None qualified. In addition to RC Dinan, Plogastel, Espérance de and JS Combourg saw the adventure come to a cruel end. There is no longer a Breton club at departmental level qualified in this 2024-2025 edition of the Coupe de France.

The new little thumbs

There will still be six R3 teams in the running, in the 6th round of the Coupe de France. Two, the Enfants de Guer and FC Bocage, also achieved a performance by eliminating R2 teams. Two also came through the back door, eliminating D1 teams on penalties. As they say, only qualification counts.

Morbihan, the most represented department

There are thirty Breton teams remaining in the Coupe de France. A third comes from Morbihan, making it the department best represented in the sixth round of the Coupe de France. It is ahead of Ille-et-Vilaine (8), Côtes-d’Armor (6) and Finistère (6), including only two for its northern part, compared to four in the south.

The draw on Wednesday

The draw for the sixth round of the Coupe de France, the last organized at regional level, will take place on Wednesday October 16, from 7 p.m., at the headquarters of Ouest-France, in Rennes. It will also be broadcast on the League website. The matches will take place on October 26 and 27.
