The series was a huge success across the world. Several years after its completion, Game of Thrones (Game of Thronesin French) continues to arouse the enthusiasm of fans. Some do not hesitate to spend fortunes to obtain costumes, accessories and other objects from the fiction. Organized by Heritage Auctions in Dallas (United States), from Thursday October 10 to Saturday October 12, 2024, an auction of 900 lots from the universe of the series brought in more than 21 million dollars (nearly 19 million euros), reports the agency Associated Press .

A $1.5 million Game of Thrones

The star object of the event, a replica of the famous Iron Throne, was sold for 1.49 million dollars (1.36 million euros) after six minutes of fierce struggle. This one was made of plastic, molded from the original version used on screen and decorated with jewels. In the series, the protagonists fought over eight seasons to conquer this throne forged by the breath of a dragon from a thousand swords of defeated fighters.

30 other lots exceeded $100,000. This is notably the case of the Longclaw sword (Grand-Criffe, in the French version), used by Jon Snow (Kit Harington), which was sold for 400,000 dollars (approximately €366,000), as well as a set of night guard equipment, including a long cape, sold for $337,500 (nearly €309,000).

Robes and armor

Dresses worn by Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) were also a big success. One went for $112,500, $100,000 more than the opening bid, and the other went for $137,500, surpassing the initial price of $122,500. A set of black leather Royal Guard armor worn by Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) sold for $275,000 (more than €250,000).
