Ce Saturday October 12, 2024shortly after midnight, a passenger ship sent a distress message while off the Channel Islands. One person was fallen into the sea.
Quickly informed of the situation, the Regional Operational Surveillance and Rescue Center (Cross) Jobourg engaged the French Navy helicopter H160, based in Maupertus (Manche).
Many means of relief
Other rescue resources were mobilized: the offshore rescue vessel SNS 17-02 from the SNSM (National Sea Rescue Society) station of Goury-La Hague, the rescue boat Inner Wheel II of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) of Alderney and the Air Search One aircraft of the Channel Islands Air Search Service.
“The H160 helicopter found the person in its search area and carried them out by helicopter,” informs the Channel and North Sea Maritime Prefecture.
During this time, a medical conference brought together the helicopter, the Cross Jobourg and the Samu maritime medical coordination (SCMM) from Le Havre. “The helicopter landed at the Tourlaville rescue center, where a medical team declared the death. »
