He is one of the stars of the world of artificial intelligence (AI). Yann LeCun is even one of the fathers of this technology. Recruited by Mark Zuckerberg in 2013, the French researcher is director of the artificial intelligence laboratory at Meta, the group which notably owns Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. Awarded the 2018 Turing Prize – considered the Nobel of computer science – Yann LeCun was at the University of Geneva on Friday to receive an honorary doctorate and give a conference. The researcher gave an interview to Temps.

Le Temps: This week, the Nobel Prizes in physics and chemistry rewarded researchers working on artificial intelligence, including Geoffrey Hinton. The latter, with whom you won the Turing Prize, is today very critical of the development of AI. What do you think?
