Diourbel/Crd on Mpox disease: an action plan implemented

The epidemic management committee met at the Diourbel governance. Eight suspected cases of Mpox disease were recorded and tests came back negative in the Diourbel region, particularly in Touba. Dr Mamadou Dieng, Regional Health Director of Diourbel explains: “There are 8 suspected cases which were investigated and which came back negative. Our action plan is structured around 8 axes around communication with advocacy and local communication. The 2th axis is surveillance with definitions of suspected cases which make it possible to detect suspected cases and bring them to the laboratory for investigations. We have an area relating to care and it includes a training component for providers with pre-positioning of stock of medicines. We have an axis relating to the monitoring of contact cases and an axis for the management of contact cases.” The governor of the Diourbel region Ibrahima Fall, who chaired the CRD, instructed the Prefects to organize a meeting at the departmental level to discuss the prevention of this disease. He invited media actors and religious leaders to get involved in raising awareness among communities to better understand how to prevent the disease.
