Dakar, Oct 9 (APS) – Major General Mamadou Gaye has been appointed general delegate for the pilgrimage to the holy places of Islam in Saudi Arabia, replacing Boubacar Sarr, announces the press release from the Council of Ministers of this Wednesday, October 9 .

The new coordinator of the annual pilgrimage of Senegalese Muslims to Saudi Arabia holds a master’s degree in military sciences, according to the same source.

Assane Ndiaye was appointed first deputy general delegate for pilgrimage to the holy places of Islam, replacing Khadim Sylla.

Previously, Mr. Ndiaye served as Senior Advisor at the Senegalese Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and at the Permanent Representation of Senegal to the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

Mohamed Mansour Ndiaye, holder of a master’s degree in translation and conference interpretation, became deputy general delegate for pilgrimage to the holy places of Islam. He replaces Ousmane Ndoye.

The press release from the Council of Ministers announces other appointments. That of Alassane Diédhiou as rector of Assane-Seck University in Ziguinchor (south) is one of them. Mr. Diédhiou, a full university professor, was vice-rector of the same university.

Abdoul Aziz Diouf, full professor of private law, becomes director general of higher education. He replaces Amadou Abdoul Sow.

Hamidou Datt, full professor of mathematics, is the new director general of research and innovation. He succeeds Professor Amadou Gallo Diop.

At the Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, journalist Habibou Dia has been appointed director of communications. He replaces Ousseynou Dieng.
