Météo France still places one department on red flood alert and six on orange alert this Thursday, after the passage of depression Kirk over France.
After Kirk’s passage, the alert remains. This Thursday, October 10, Météo France is still maintaining six departments on orange alert for floods, while Seine-et-Marne is on red alert. Authorities fear rising water levels in the Grand Morin River, a sub-tributary of the Seine, which could reach a record level.
Note that in the department, the circulation of school transport has been prohibited by the prefecture, due to this red vigilance. Outdoor and water activities there have also been suspended until Friday.
Météo France also maintains six departments on orange alert for floods: Orne, Eure-et-Loir, Sarthe, Vendée, Deux-Sèvres and Meurthe-et-Moselle.
The passage of the Kirk depression led to record rains in the territory: 70 millimeters were counted in Paris yesterday. Unheard of since 1920.
