They have been carried out since the start of the year in several municipalities in the department. The “Place clean” operations have so far made it possible to arrest more than 220 individuals and impose 160 fines.

The stated objective of the State was to strengthen the fight against daily delinquency, and more particularly against drug trafficking. Since January 19, 2024, 4,400 members of the police have participated in 71 “Place Net” operations in .

, Saint-André, Saint-Benoît, Saint-Denis, Saint-Paul and Saint-Pierre. Six municipalities were in the sights of the authorities. The results of the operations, almost 9 months after their launch, amount to 223 arrests for 21,000 people checked.

This allowed them to impose 160 fixed fines related to drugs, labor and trade regulations, and foreigners’ rights.

It was a desire of President Emmanuel Macron. “Place Net” operations have been deployed since the start of the year across the entire French territory. They involve law enforcement and the judiciary in various actions. Control of common areas of buildings, identity checks, or even mobilization of search dogs.

The executive ensures that this helps to strengthen the security of residents in the sectors concerned. These operations will continue over the coming months.
