The Jamm Ak Njarin coalition, supported by Amadou Ba, records new defections. After the notable departure of Abdoulaye Dièye in Thiès, it is the turn of the mayor of Diass, Mamadou Ndione, to announce his withdrawal. The latter expressed his frustration during a press conference on Tuesday, addressing his supporters and the media.

Mamadou Ndione discovered with dismay his positioning as 3rd substitute on the Mbour departmental list. “An unpleasant surprise,” he confided, specifying that he could not accept such a situation without reacting. He recalled his journey marked by courageous political choices, notably during his challenges to the decisions of the Benno Bokk Yakaar coalition in 2014 and 2022. According to him, accepting this place would have betrayed his reputation. In his speech, the author of the book “AB for the stability of Senegal in 2024 and beyond” underlined his dissatisfaction with a decision taken without prior consultation. For Ndione, this approach lacked “logic and elegance”.

For his part, Abdoulaye Dièye, political figure from Thiès, also chose to leave the race for the early legislative elections. He was initially expected to lead the Jamm Ak Njarin coalition list in this region. However, Dièye justified his decision by internal differences within the Takku Wallu-Jamm Ak Njarin and Samm Sa Kaddu inter-coalition. In addition to these political differences, he invoked his loyalty to President Macky Sall, considering it inappropriate to run against a list supported by the latter.

These successive defections are a hard blow for Amadou Ba as the elections approach, weakening a coalition already prey to internal divisions.
