Quiet areas in Parilly Park

The Metropolis of inaugurated three new “quiet zones” this Monday at Parilly Park, as part of its Environmental Noise Prevention Plan.

This Monday, three new quiet zones, located in Parilly Park, were inaugurated. The aim of this initiative is to offer users places of rest and isolation, far from the “chaos citadin“.

“The objective is to find zones of silence in our metropolitan parks”said Pierre Athanaze, vice-president of the Metropolis, in charge of the environment.

Three dedicated areas

In order to protect residents from noise pollution, three zones dedicated to calm have recently emerged within Parilly park. Scattered in strategic locations, located out of the way and configured in alcoves for more privacy, they are accessible to all.

Produced in collaboration with the association Acoucitythe calm zones were chosen for their “acoustic and landscape qualities“, conducive to rest. These, equipped with suitable furniture, allow you to relax while enjoying the sounds of nature.

“The goal is to enter the park and seek calm”expressed the Acoucité group, after having made several sound recordings of the chosen areas.

Noise, a real public health problem

The cause of chronic illnesses and stress, noise constitutes a real public health issue.

According to the strategic noise maps of the Lyon Metropolis, 8.4% of Lyon residents are exposed to noise pollution going beyond the European threshold.

It is in this context that the environmental noise prevention plan was born, making it possible to prevent and reduce noise at its source, while continuing to protect quiet areas of the city.
