It’s been a month since MOUV’ENFANTS calls for the removal of Abbé Pierre from the Fresque des Lyonnais in support of victims of sexual violence and child crime. Rape culture goes beyond representations.
MOUV’ENFANTS wrote to the Mayor of Lyon on 09/08/2024. We never got a response. Lyon Town Hall announced the creation of a citizens’ committee without specifying its composition or the timetable.
We propose that Lucie Aubrac replace Abbé Pierre. It marked the history of Lyon and France. It conveys values of resistance and courage in the face of fascistism. Moreover, the Lyonnais fresco does not respect parity and there are very few women. Out of 40 personalities represented, there are only 4 women and no contemporaries. It’s a scandal.
While all over France, municipalities are removing plaques, street or school names or frescoes, in Lyon nothing is moving at the level of the Fresque des Lyonnais.
Even if it is not within municipal jurisdiction, we ask the Mayor of Lyon for a clear statement in support of the victims of Abbé Pierre and a position taken for the removal of Abbé Pierre from the Fresque des Lyonnais.
No tribute for attackers and child criminals.
By launching this petition, MOUV’ENFANTS calls on CitéCréations and the Mayor of Lyon to stop the procrastination and permanently erase Abbé Pierre from the Fresque des Lyonnais and replace him with Lucie Aubrac.
