The Paris police headquarters decided to take strong action. Faced with the announcement of a unlimited strike of road workers from this Friday, May 10it decided to requisition the agents “with a view to guaranteeing the continuity of a minimum surveillance service for road tunnels in Paris”.

Fears of severe traffic disruption

In a decree, the Paris police headquarters justifies its decision by the desire to “guarantee the security of Parisian tunnels”.

Indeed, a strike would prevent vehicles from using these tunnels and would have led to “a significant disruption of traffic in Paris and its suburbs. This situation would lead serious impairment of good circulation security and emergency vehicles, thus compromising the safety of people. »

Consequently, from Friday May 10 to Thursday May 16, four agents were requisitioned per day to ensure continuity of service 24 hours a day. If they refuse, agents are exposed to criminal sanctions.
