Saint-Louis, Oct 5 (APS) – The governor of the Saint-Louis region (north), Al Hassan Sall, welcomed, Saturday, the strong mobilization of the community alongside the Defense and Security Forces , on the occasion of the 5th edition of the national cleaning day “Sétal sunu reew” dedicated to educational establishments.

“We were therefore able to note, to rejoice, a strong mobilization of the community alongside the Defense and Security Forces, elements of the town hall, State services, in particular SONAGED”, National Society for Integrated Management of waste, he said.

The head of the regional executive spoke with journalists shortly after giving the first sweeps of the broom at the school in the Cité Niakh district, to officially launch this cleaning day.

The President of the Republic, by establishing this day dedicated to educational establishments, wanted not only to contribute to their cleaning but also to their beautification, to their preparation so that the start of the school year scheduled for October 7, 2024, takes place in “excellent conditions,” he recalled.

In the opinion of Mr. Sall, at the Saint-Louis level, “all energies were put to work for the success of this day of citizen mobilization”.

“We were able to see that all the energies were mobilized and we think that the day was a great success in Saint-Louis and that on Monday October 7, the students will be welcomed in sanitized and beautified settings so that they can start the “school year in excellent conditions,” he said.

The governor also called on the population to “maintain this citizen mobilization and consolidate the achievements to proceed in a lasting manner with the cleaning of educational establishments and, beyond that, neighborhoods”.

Al Hassan Sall also praised the work of the prefect of the department Abou Sow who coordinated this activity together with the services concerned.

Five schools, including the Lycée technique André Peytavin (LTAP), were chosen to launch this cleaning day.

Agents from SONAGED, the cleaning service of the municipality of Saint-Louis, the Academy Inspection (IA), the Education and Training Inspectorate (IEF), among others, took take part in this day of citizen mobilization.
