In Ain and the Pays de Gex, the real estate market has been slowing down since the second half of 2022. “While the number of sales has doubled over the last ten years, we recorded, in the department at the end of October 2023, a decline of around 11% in the number of transactions, all types of goods combined”, observes Laetitia Jossier, vice-president of the interdepartmental chamber of notaries responsible for Ain.
This slowdown, confirmed at the start of 2024, does not lead to a fall in prices, but a “readjustment according to the neighborhoods and the energy label of the property”, considers Marie-Line Favier-Jouvent, of L’Adresse ML Jouvent Immobilier.
