Switzerland will be able to count on two big reinforcements for the World Cup. As suggested by Swiss Ice Hockey, Roman Josi and Nino Niederreiter will appear on the final list which will be revealed on Monday.

The Bernese defender and captain of the Nashville Predators, eliminated in the first round of the NHL play-offs by the Vancouver Canucks, has not worn the Swiss jersey since 2019. He is one of three nominated for the Norris Trophy, which rewards the best fullback in the regular season in the North American league.

Nino Niederreiter had already made his return to Fischer’s selection during the 2023 World Cup. The Grisons forward was also prematurely eliminated from the NHL series with the Winnipeg Jets against the Colorado Avalanche.

Denis Malgin forfeits

As for the Swiss champions from Zurich, Dean Kukan and Sven Andrighetto will also be there, but not Denis Malgin, who was injured during the ‘finalissima’. As for the Lausanne finalists, Damien Riat and Andrea Glauser should also be announced on Monday.
