This Thursday, May 2, 2024, Chantiers de l’Atlantique signed a contract worth 4.5 billion euros for the construction of six electrical substations.
Electrical substations equip offshore wind farms. These are the transformers towards which the energy produced by each wind turbine converges before being sent to the continent.
Fifteen years ago, Chantiers de l’Atlantique chose to diversify into this industrial sector. A winning bet since the company is today the 2nd European manufacturer of substations.
The construction of a substation generates three million hours of workthe equivalent of building a medium-sized liner.
