Birame Soulèye Diop resigns from the post of mayor of Thiès Nord
After Ousmane Sonko, Birame Soulèye Diop, the mayor of the commune of Thiès Nord lays down his aprons. Now Minister of Energy, Oil and Mines, Biram Soulèye Diop, announced his resignation from his post as mayor of Thiès Nord to take care of his responsibilities at the ministry. An approach which complies with the regulations in force in Senegal.
Indeed, after forming his government, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko reminded all members of the new government team of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to withdraw from all other public functions within one month. This is to enforce the policy of separation of administrative and political roles within the government.
Furthermore, apart from Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, Serigne Guèye Diop, Minister of Industry and Commerce, also submitted his resignation as mayor of Sandiara shortly after his appointment. In the same wake, Yankhoba Diémé, appointed to the post of Minister of Labor, Employment and Relations with Institutions, also followed the same path by renouncing his functions as president of the Bignona departmental council.
